JM: What clothes could you have brought in to wear in the jail (underwear, socks, etc.)? Girliegirl: Skirts or dresses in blue. Plain white underwear
and 3 pair of socks. When we would send our
clothes to the laundry we never got our same
stuff back and they always either shrunk or gave
you bigger clothes. We would wash our clothes
ourselves sometimes if we got a uniform that
fit. Most of the time it was either too big or
small and smelled like funky cheap detergent. We
got one pair of shoes and if you wore them out
they would give you another pair that took you 3
months to break in so they wouldn't hurt your
feet. Paul: the pants and shirt we where issued Tyler: Everyone is in matching pants and shirts. You are
allowed to keep your socks, underpants, and tee
shirt if it is white. Uniforms and issued
towel/wash cloth are replaced once a week. You
also are given a laundry bag that you can give to
laundry once a week for your underwear, tee
shirts, and socks. They get it back to you in a
couple of hours.
JM: If you had a set uniform, what did it look like? Please be specific about each piece of clothing issued to you. Girliegirl: OOPS I answered the question above. Please see
above. Paul: yes it was green Tyler: Yes, Blue with the word PRISONER in white letters.
Plastic slippers.
JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned? Girliegirl: Clothes that fit! Paul: Not that I know off. Tyler: NO, everyone had the same clothes.
JM: Was the clothing different between men and women? Girliegirl: People would steal socks. Women mostly wore maid
uniform style dresses or skirts. Ugly pale blue
or pants that were floods. Men had the
comfortable looking uniforms. Baggy or fitting
but never tight. Paul: I think Tyler: Don't know. Didn't see any women.
